Samsung Dryer displays an error code
Error codes help identify the problem when your dryer isn't working properly. Luckily, errors on your Samsung dryer are usually very easy to fix and only take a few troubleshooting steps.
Important: If your model does not have a digital display, it will display error codes as blinking lights instead.
Samsung Dryer displays an error code
Voltage errors (9C1, 9E, 2E, 9E1)
This code appears when something is abnormal with the voltage being supplied to the dryer.
- If you get this error, check that the dryer is on its own circuit and not using an extension cord.
- If it's an electric dryer, confirm the power cord has been installed properly and the correct voltage is being supplied.
- If you take a model out of the country it was sold in, you may get this error, as power grids and their regulations vary between countries.
If the error continues, visit our Support Center to request service.
Jammed button errors (bE, bE2, bC2, 6E, 6E2, 6C2)
This appears if a button on the panel is detected as stuck or continuously pressed.
If you get this error, power off the dryer, and then individually touch and release every button on the panel, working back and forth to reach all edges of each button.
If any of the buttons are damaged, or the code returns after powering on the dryer, visit our Support Center to request service.
Door-Related errors (dC, dE, dF, do, d0, 1 DC, 1 dF)
These are related to the door, its latch, and the sensors that detect whether they are secured correctly. This can happen when the door won't stay closed, or won't close or latch.
Check that the latch is securely fixed, laundry or other items are not caught in the door, and the door is closed and secured correctly.
If the code cannot be corrected or there is damage to the door or latch, visit our Support Center to request service.
Temperature errors (tS, t5, tC, tO, t0, tE, tE3, tC5, tCS, 1 tC, 1tC5, 1tCS)
These reflect an issue with the temperature or with the sensors that measure it.
The most common cause is a clogged lint screen or vent system trapping heat in the dryer. Clean the lint screen, vent system, or both to correct the error.
If the error continues after cleaning the lint screen and the exhaust vent, visit our Support Center to request service.
Heating errors (HC, hE, HC4, 1 HC)
This means that the dryer is getting too hot.
The most common cause is a clogged lint screen or vent system trapping heat in the dryer. Clean the lint screen, vent system, or both to correct the error.
In some cases, the error can occur when the heater is not hot enough, which can be caused by low voltage (on electric dryers). If the dryer is electric, contact an electrician to check the voltage supplied.
If the error continues, visit our Support Center to request service.
Communication errors (AC, Et, AE, EEE, AE4, AE3, AE5, E3, 1 AC)
This code means the dryer's internal components cannot communicate with each other. Shut off the dryer for 60 seconds, and then turn it back on again.
If the error code remains, visit the Support Center to request service.
Frequency errors (FC, FE, 1 FC)
These codes mean that there is an invalid power source frequency. To fix this, try restarting the cycle.
If the error code remains, visit the Support Center to request service.
Vent Blockage test results (Clg, Cl9, Cg, C9, C80, C8o, C8, C90, C9o, Ct)
These codes will only appear after a Vent Blockage test has been run. See our guide for more information.
- Clg, Cg: The vent is clogged.
- C80, C8: About 80% of the vent is clogged.
- C90, C9: Over 90% of the vent is clogged.
- C1, CL1: Laundry is detected inside the drum.
- Ct: The dryer is below freezing or above 104°F.
Download in progress (dn)
This code means a download to the dryer's firmware is in progress. Depending on the file size and the speed of the connection, the amount of time for the download can vary.
The dryer will restart itself when the software is installed.
If after 24 hours the dryer is still displaying dn, visit our Support Center to request service.
Child Lock (CL)
All other errors
If the dryer displays an error code that was not in the list, the error usually relates to the dryer's sensors and components. Here are some examples:
- 3C: Motor Error
- oD: Dry Time Error
- 1 AC7: Electronic Control Error
- HC2: Gas Ignition Error
If you see one of these errors, or any other errors, power off the dryer for 2-3 minutes, power it back on, and restart the cycle. If this doesn't work, try checking your user manual for exact troubleshooting steps.
If the error returns, visit our Support Center to request service.
