How to use an eSIM with your Galaxy phone

Some Galaxy phones come with an eSIM. An eSIM allows you to activate a mobile network plan without having a nano-SIM. If your Galaxy smartphone has an eSIM, you can add and remove your mobile network plan to your phone. Read on to find out more.

How to add your mobile plan on your smartphone with an eSIM

To add your mobile network plan on an eSIM, you can scan a QR code that your network has provided, install a pre-assigned plan automatically, or enter the information manually. Before adding your plan, make sure your Galaxy smartphone is connected to WiFi or mobile data network.

Some providers support automatic mobile plan activation to an eSIM by pre-assigning your mobile plan. Check with your network provider if automatic activation is available. The carrier may ask you the EID of your phone. You can find the EID on the box of your smartphone or in Settings > About phone > Status. If your mobile plan was pre-assigned by your carrier, follow the below steps:

1 Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
2 Tap Add mobile plan
3 Your mobile plan will be automatically downloaded and activated on the eSIM

Most network providers that support eSIM provide a QR code that is assigned to your mobile plan. Contact your network provider to receive a QR code.

To add an eSIM using the QR code, follow the below steps:

1 Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
2 Tap Add mobile plan
3 Tap Add using QR code
4 Scan the QR code that your carrier provided
5 Your mobile plan will be downloaded and activated on your eSIM

Some network providers that support eSIM provide an activation code to add manually. To enter your plan information manually, follow the steps below:

1 Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
2 Tap Add mobile plan
3 Tap Add using activation code
4 Enter the information that your carrier provided
5 Your mobile plan will be downloaded and activated on your eSIM

Remove an eSIM mobile plan

You can remove activated plans on an eSIM by following the steps below. After removing your plan, contact your carrier to terminate your contract.

Please note: Removing plans on your Galaxy smartphone does not affect your contract with the network provider.

1 Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
2 Select a plan on eSIM that you want to remove
3 Disable the plan by switching the toggle to off (the switch will be greyed out)
4 Tap Remove
1 Go to Settings > Connections > SIM card manager
2 Tap Remove all mobile plans
