What to do when the SmartThings app fails to add my TV?
The SmartThings app makes it easy to control your Samsung Smart TV and appliances. If the app fails to add your device, follow these troubleshooting steps:
Check the wireless network status
Ensure your TV and smartphone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and logged into the same Samsung Account for pairing.
Bluetooth Support for Newer TVs
For TVs made after 2017 with Bluetooth, the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) feature allows device setup without needing to be on the same network.
Follow the steps below to connect to your Wi-Fi.
Please note: Ensure you are close to the TV for a smooth connection and registration. Avoid having more than ten devices connected while trying to register your device.
In Wi-Fi settings, change Switch to mobile data to off. Try to add the device again from the beginning.
Make sure that your TV is supported by the SmartThings app with the steps below.
Check for software updates
Make sure the software on your smartphone and SmartThings app is up to date, and if necessary, update the firmware of your TV as well.
Note: The SmartThings app is compatible with phones running Android 8.0 or higher as well as iOS 12.0 or higher.
Please note: Menu and features names may vary by model and software version. Contact Support if you keep having problems.
