How to correctly wear and maintain your Galaxy Watch/Fit
After dedicating resources, time and effort into acquiring and personalising your Galaxy Watch/Fit, it is wise to understand how to correctly wear and maintain your device. Additionally, if you have sensitive skin, you need to be aware of any components in the device that may be an irritant to your skin.
The following tips will help ensure you are comfortable whilst wearing your device, as well as help you avoid some common causes of skin irritation due to wearing a watch in certain situations.
- Dry your skin before putting on your Galaxy Watch/Fit.
- Tighten the strap enough to keep the device in place and does not slip, but not so tight that it cuts off blood circulation.
- To avoid skin irritation, remove the device if you have been:
- Wearing the watch for an extended period of time
- Sweating
- Swimming while wearing the Galaxy Watch/Fit
Note: If your skin becomes irritated, stop wearing your device immediately and give your skin two or three days to heal. If your symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor.
Keeping your wearable device clean and avoiding potentially damaging substances will help extend the life of its usability. Stay up-to-date on how to keep your Galaxy Watch/Fit functioning at peak efficiency.
- The method for cleaning the Galaxy Watch/Fit band depends on the material it is made from.
- Rubber or silicone: use clean water and then thoroughly dry
- Leather: use a lint-free, soft cloth
- Use a lint-free, soft cloth if your wearable device is exposed to the following substances:
- Dust
- Sweat
- Ink
- Oil
- Cosmetics
- Sunscreen
- Antibacterial spray
- Hand cleaner or sanitiser
- Laundry detergent
- Insecticides
- Avoid using the following for cleaning your Galaxy Watch/Fit:
- Soap
- Cleaning agents
- Abrasive materials
- Chemicals
- Compressed air
- Ultrasonic waves
- External heat sources
Samsung works diligently to remain aware of potential allergens, like nickel and acrylate, in our products, particularly if those products are wearable devices and will be against the user’s skin for an extended period; and although acrylate is directly used in the main body and strap of the Galaxy Watch/Fit, nickel is not. However, the Galaxy Watch/Fit does use stainless steel, which has traces of nickel, but according to an analysis from a third-party institution, users are barely exposed to the nickel.
Nevertheless, if your skin becomes irritated at any time while wearing a Galaxy Watch/Fit, remove the device and let your skin heal for a few days. If your condition does not improve or if it worsens, contact your doctor or a dermatologist immediately.
Materials used in the Galaxy Watch/Fit
The materials used in the Galaxy Watch/Fit are verified to be in compliance with international environmental regulations through the authorised international test institutions for certain materials, such as the fibre, leather, plastic and metal, which have a high possibility of containing harmful materials.
