    FAQs

    • 1. Do all Samsung fridges use the same water filter?

No, not all Samsung fridges use the same water filter. Different models may require different filters based on their design and water filtration requirements.
    • To find the correct water filter for your Samsung fridge, check your refrigerator’s user manual or locate the filter inside your fridge and check the model number on the filter itself.
    • We recommend replacing the water filter every six months. The fridge's water filter light will let you know when those six months are up. The filter light should be reset after changing the filter. The frequency of changing your water filter may vary depending on the quality of your local water and how much you use your dispenser. To check if it's time for a new filter, try this: first, dispense some water with the filter in place, and then again without the filter. If there's a noticeable difference in how quickly the water flows, it's time to change the filter, regardless of whether the indicator light suggests a change is needed.
    • To replace HAF-CIN and HAF-QIN water filter types:

         •   Locate and remove the old filter by turning it counter-clockwise to unlock it.
         •   Pull it straight out.
         •   Remove the protection cap from the top of the new filter. Then insert the new filter and lock it in place by turning it clockwise.
         •   Ensure the lock symbol matches up with the indicator line.

To replace the HAFCU1 filter type:

         •   Twist the old filter to the left to unlock it.
         •   Pull it down to remove it from the filter housing.
         •   To install the new filter, insert it into the filter housing and twist it to the right.
         •   Make sure to align the notch located on top of the filter with the arrow on the filter housing.
         •   After replacing your filter, dispense a few gallons of water to flush out any impurities or air. Then, make sure to reset the water filter light on your fridge.

    • After changing the filter, reset the water filter indicator by pressing and holding the “Filter Reset” button on the dispenser until the indicator light turns off or changes colour. Check your user manual, because the process may vary slightly by model.

      • Select Fridge Manager from the options.
      • Tap on Fridge Settings.
      • Choose Water Filter from the menu.

    • The water filter location will vary depending on your fridge model, so please check your user manual if you’re unsure.
    • Generally, Samsung fridge water filters are designed not to be cleaned, but replaced. Always refer to your specific model’s guidelines.
    • Cleaning a refrigerator water filter is not recommended because it can compromise the effectiveness of the filter. It’s better to replace the filter per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
    • A refrigerator water filter typically uses activated carbon to trap contaminants and impurities in the water. As water flows through the filter, the carbon absorbs unwanted particles such as chlorine, lead and other chemicals, improving the taste and quality of your water and ice.
