Set Up your Samsung TV

Complete the initial onscreen setup of your Samsung Smart TV and easily select everything on the screen during the setup process such as your preferred network, settings and voice assistant. Your Samsung Smart TV can be set up using the included Samsung remote control or using your mobile device. Follow the steps below to help guide you through the onscreen setup process.

Note: The order of initial setup steps and UI may vary by model and geographical area and steps may be added or deleted. Please follow any on-screen prompts specific to your device.

The following steps will help you set up your Samsung TV using the TV’s remote control.

1 Select Remote Control as your preferred set up method.

2 Your TV will remind you to plug in your external devices and turn them on. Connect your external devices and then select Next.

3 Select how you’d like to connect your TV to the internet. You can choose a Wireless connection or Wired connection.
  • Wireless: Select your network name from the list of networks detected by your TV, then enter your Wi-Fi password and then select Go.

  • Wired: Your TV will automatically detect and connect to the internet if an Ethernet cable is connected. If you haven’t done so, please connect an Ethernet cable to your TV.
4 Next, review the Smart Hub Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice. In order to proceed to the next step, select I Agree to all and then select OK to continue.

5 Review the smart features included with your Samsung Account and then select Start Setup.

6 You will be prompted to sign into your Samsung Account. Select Remote Control.

Note: You can also select Website or scan the provided QR code using your phone.

7 Enter your Samsung Account credentials and then select Sign In.

8 You will need to verify your account using two-step verification. Select Send Code and then enter the code you received on your phone or through your email. Select Verify.

Note: You can also select Text Message or Backup Code under Other ways to verify.

9 You’ll be signed into your Samsung Account. Select Stay Signed In if desired and then select Next.

10 You can save and backup your settings; select your preferred settings and then select Back Up.

11 If a software update is available, update to the latest version. If you are already using the latest software version, select Next to proceed.

12 Next, you can restore your backed up data from your previous products if desired. Select your preferred data and then select Next.

13 Select your desired voice assistant; you can choose Bixby or Amazon Alexa.

The following steps will help you set up your Samsung TV using your phone. You will need to use the SmartThings app to proceed with the setup process.

1 Make sure you are signed into your Samsung Account on your phone and that your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you’d like to use for your TV.

2 Select Smartphone as your preferred set up method.

3 Scan the provided QR code using your phone. The SmartThings app will automatically open if you are using a Samsung Galaxy phone. If you do not have the SmartThings app installed on your phone, please install the SmartThings app to proceed. Then, scan the QR code again.

4 Next, review the Smart Hub Terms and Conditions and Privacy Notice. In order to proceed to the next step, select I Agree to all and then select OK to continue.

5 Select a location and room for your TV and then tap Next. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your TV to SmartThings.
6 Name your TV, and then tap Next.

8 You can save and backup your settings; follow the prompts to select and back up your data if desired.

9 You will be reminded to plug in your external devices and turn them on. Connect your external devices, and then select Next.

10 Next, you can restore your backed up data from your previous products if desired. Select your preferred data and then select Next.

11 Link your favorite apps if desired; select from the displayed apps and services and then follow the prompts to log in or sign up. Tap Next.

Note: Supported apps may vary by model and country of residence.

12 Review the information about additional features and then select Enable Now if you’d like to turn them on. Otherwise, select Later.

13 If you have a service provider, select your service provider. You will be prompted to set up a cable box or satellite box if desired.

14 Your TV’s setup process will be complete.
