Update the Software on your Samsung TV

Updating the software of your Samsung TV can sometimes work out any kinks that might be causing problems with the normal functionality of your TV. You can also download the software from the Support section of the Samsung website and save it to a USB drive. Follow the guide below for more information.

If your Samsung Smart TV or monitor is not connected to a network, you can download the latest software file from the Samsung website and save it to a USB flash drive. Then, you can connect the USB flash drive to your TV or monitor to perform the update.

Notes:

  • Save the update package in the USB drive’s top-level folder. Otherwise, the TV or monitor will not be able to locate the update package.
  • If there are multiple files, place all of the files in the USB drive’s top-level folder.

2 Search for your TV's model number. If your TV doesn't show up, please ensure you are on the correct country or regional website

Note: Make sure to search your TV model on the site of the country your TV was purchased from. You are on the Samsung Australia website right now where we only provide firmware dowloads for products sold in Australia. You can get back to your country or regions homepage by clicking the Australia/English button at the very bottom left of this page and selecting from the global options.

4 Allow the download to complete. When the file has finished downloading, locate it and then unzip it. There is normally one folder inside but there may be multiple files

5 Next, connect a USB flash drive to your computer. Copy or move all of the files that were included in the zip file to the USB flash drive, but do not place them inside any other folders. If you place the software folders inside a folder on the USB flash drive, the TV or monitor will not find them

7 Follow the prompts to update the software. Alternatively, navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select Support. Select Software Update, and then select Update Now

Note: The update will take at least 10 minutes to complete. The TV will restart automatically afterward. Do not turn off the TV or remove the USB flash drive until the update is complete.

If the update does not run when using USB:

  • Check and compare the version number of the Update file and TV's firmware. You can find the TV's firmware version via Settings > Support > About TV/Contact Samsung. If the version number on the TV is higher, than the TV is up to date
  • Update file may be corrupted during unzip or transfer to USB. Retry unzip and transfer the file to USB again.

Sometimes if something is not working quite right, there may not be an update available. If an app is not working on your TV, you can check your internet connection and Reset the Smart Hub to see if this helps. This just might be what is needed.
